Chimney sweeping is a licensed, safety-critical trade: the National Fire Protection Association traces a large share of home heating fires directly to chimney and vent systems that were not swept or inspected. This course trains you to the standard a working sweep is actually held to — the three-stage creosote model, the NFPA 211 inspection levels, correct brush selection for tile, metal, and stainless liners, and the containment and PPE discipline that separates a professional from someone with a brush and a truck.

You will finish able to identify which of the three creosote stages you are looking at and what each one requires, run a Level 1 inspection correctly, choose sweeping equipment that matches the flue you are servicing instead of damaging it, and write a report that documents a hazard instead of quietly leaving it behind. This is preparation for supervised fieldwork and for CSIA-style certification study — it does not replace either one.
